Sara, We’re truly sorry to read your review and to hear how upsetting this experience was for you — especially given the sensitive nature of a sympathy order. That is never something we take lightly.
We understand you requested that the flowers be left at the door so they would be there when she returned home from the wake. In cold temperatures, our team must use discretion when it comes to leaving arrangements outside to prevent damage or freezing, as all flowers should arrive in the best possible condition. At the time of delivery it was 28 degrees outside with a windchill of 15. You can then understand as a florist why the flowers were not left- they most certainly would have been frozen if left outside for any length of time. At the time of delivery we did call the phone # provided (your phone#) not the recipients as asked for, and also sat in the driveway and looked on whitepages.com for a phone# for the recipient which is blocked on whitepages.com. We did send a message to the company that you ordered the flowers from- "Ruth's Roses" and told them it was not delivered and why it was not left at the door and would be delivered the following day , but that we needed the recipients phone# to complete the delivery to make sure they would be home before going there again. If they did not advise you of that - that is their fault- WE DID EVERYTHING BY COMMON PRACTICE STANDARDS, that any professional florist would do.
Also I want to be clear that you did not order this floral from us, you used a wire service/3rd party order gather online, who took your info and order and sent it to us at a fraction of what you paid for. The following morning when we still didn't get any info back from Ruth's Roses about the delivery and phone# that is when we called the phone# on the order and it was your phone#. That said, if you feel that we fell short in communicating our decision and in following up with you we did not. We followed all wire service rules and regulations and our policy. Ruth's Roses ( The online order gather) did not communicate with you to let you know what the situation was. If anything you should be upset with them instead of screaming at the florist who actually did all the work for a fraction of the cost as I was trying to tell you on the phone, but you wouldn't let me get a word in.
We sincerely apologize for the frustration this caused you. Our intention is always to handle these moments with care and professionalism. If we didn't we would not still be in business for the past 44 years.
