Also Id be remiss if I didnt mention how helpful their staff in their greenhouse is ! Simply super !!

Fantastic experience: Mel and her team from Potraz did an amazing job with the flowers for our September wedding at the Watson-Curtze mansion (outdoor pieces framing staircase, bouquet, and short + tall centerpieces). The colors were beautiful and the floral variety was just what we were looking for and complimented the venue so well. Mel would call me when she got certain flowers/colors shipped in so I could give feedback for her planning (and I could take a few home!). I would recommend using Potraz for your event any day!

Fantastic experience: Mel and Janel from Potratz recently did all of the flowers at our wedding (Aug 2025) at Bear Ridge Destination. They were AMAZING to work with. Both are extremely knowledgeable and experts in their field. They are personable, very easy to work with, and super creative! Mel and Janel both go above and beyond to make every arrangement with attention to detail, crafting the ambiance / environment to perfection. Every single detail—from the bridal bouquet to the reception centerpieces—was thoughtfully arranged and bursting with beauty. The color palette, textures, and balance of each piece added such an elegant and romantic touch to the entire day. These florals weren’t just decor—they were art. They elevated every photo and made our job behind the camera even more magical. Potratz was also wonderful to work with: professional, responsive, and clearly passionate about their craft.

Negative experience: For years my DIL and I have driven more than 40 miles to shop at Potratz. My DIL loves their plant selection. So when my mother wanted to purchase a gift for her newest great grand daughters recently born, their mamas favorite greenhouse (Potratz) seemed the obvious choice, even though it is very much out of the way for us. So, last September (2024), I purchased 2-Oak Leaf Hydrangeas as gifts from my mother to her 2 great grand daughters. (at $50 a piece I might add. And they didn't look all that nice when we picked them up, but they assured me "they would perk up" after being planted and some adjust time. I called today to tell them one of the plants did not leaf out this Spring. I was very disappointed to hear them say "it was a bad winter, nothing we can do about that" I said, so you won't replace the dead one? They said "No" I guess I should have asked about warranty when I purchased them but I honestly thought purchasing these plants from a "reputable" nursery/greenhouse would assure we got good plants and that they would stand behind their products.. We are so disappointed. These were to be a pair of pink beauties to grow up with the great granddaughters. Pretty sure I at least won't be going out of my way anymore to visit them.

Inside Erie's botanical gardens you'll find countless rows of lush greenery and unique finds at every turn; all located right here in the middle of the city. Everyone in the team seems to be either very knowledgeable, or they know how to find the right answer very quickly. If you're looking for affordable tropical plants, rare and unique types of cactus, the coolest succulents you've ever seen, floral gifts, hearty house plants, and basically all-things green, Potratz is without a doubt one of the best greenhouse operations on the Great Lakes.

They also did my wedding flowers, and the bouquet absolutely stole the show — I mean look at that thing!! A must-visit for anyone who loves plants or is looking for stunning event flowers!

Fantastic experience: The BEST plant place I’ve ever been to! My mom and I went on a greenhouse roadtrip and this was our first and last stop. They had everything we were looking to find and ended up spending literally 4 hours here. The variety was amazing. The prices are beyond fair. The staff and the owner were wonderful! I would recommend this place to anyone (but I don’t want to share my secrets so only the people I really like lol). 10/10 all around!

Negative experience: I will never buy anything from them again, my mother past and we ordered $700 arrangements and none of them showed up at the funeral home with the right type of flowers or the right colors when I called to complained they made up some excuses and didn't care about it being all wrong...they wanted to know what was they were suppose to do about it...never again!

Fantastic experience: I'm not much of a gardener but this place was absolutely impressive. The variety was astounding. One fellow shopper said that Potratz was the best flower and garden shop on the Eastern US, and said they've lived in every one of the original 13 states.

Fantastic experience: I have always loved Potratz’s greenhouse! Their plants are healthy and there’s so many to choose from. But recently I decided to use their flower shop for my gender reveal! I had the results emailed to them and spoke with them ahead of time about what types of flowers and price range I wanted. They went above and beyond to give me a beautiful bouquet that they carefully wrapped and boxed up so that I couldn’t see the flowers before the reveal. They were so easy to work with and gave a great value for money. I really appreciate everyone there that helped, it was an incredibly special moment for us!

Fantastic experience: This is a FABULOUS plant shop/greenhouse with so many selections of house plants, outdoor plants and water plants too! If you are a plant lover- your heart will go WILD walking in the door!! Reasonable prices and even a selection of RARE plants too. Super helpful staff but they don't "pester" you either- you could look all day! I drive over an hour to get there and it's worth it every time.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Potraz for 'once again' saving my beautiful 20+ year old plant Peace Lilly, I almost killed. No matter what goes wrong I know you will always be there to fix it. Over the years I have bought many plants for the office where I worked, and they were georgous when I gave them away upon my retirement. I have 2 large legacy Hoya, you saved one from bugs and germinated one from cuttings and grew for over a year and it was returned to me over with over 4 feet of growth. The Hoya's are are over 60 years old and given to me by my mother who passed a long time ago. When these plants bloom it feels like my mother, who grew up on a farm, is stopping by to say " hello, I love you all" . I hope to continue my long association with Potraz in the years to come. Please don't ever close. Everyone who works there is so nice and knowledgeable and always ready to help. Compared to everywhere else thier prices are reasonable, but more importantly thier plants are exceptional. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Drove here from Buffalo,NY after hearing too many good things to not check it out. Absolutely worth the drive. Every staff member was wonderful and kind and helpful. The variety was unique and yet had all the staples too. The prices were competitive and occasionally downright astonishingly cheap for very well developed larger plants. 2 different works gave me discounts on a plant just because! Seriously they made my day. I bought 10 plants and could have happily bought 30 more if I had the room for them. I'll be back for outdoor gardening season if not sooner. Potratz team...you are the BEST. Please dont change!

I didn’t know much about flowers and found it sometimes hard to describe exactly what I wanted, but I learned so much from Mel. She really knows her stuff! I love how resourceful she is too; she would suggest ways we could use our flowers both at our ceremony and reception. She is very kind, professional, and detail-oriented. Fantastic experience: Potratz recently did the casket flowers and two sprays for my Mother's funeral. They were very well done and beautifully coordinated. I highly recommend them. I had also had plants delivered to her, which were very beautifully arranged and still living affyer transplanting a year ago.

Fantastic experience: They have so many varieties of everything! I was not only able to find plants I've been looking for and couldn't find anywhere else, but so much more I didn't know I wanted until I was there, and varieties of each I didn't know existed. I love that they explain to you whether or not each plenty will survive an Erie winter, how to care for your plants, and answer any questions you have about anything they have there. The very friendly lady who rung up my purchase was very knowledgeable about not only my purchase, but several behind me, as well. I could wander there all afternoon. I will definitely be back.

Negative experience: Had big bouquet in a vase delivered to me for my birthday as a gift from a family member. By the end of the day..flowers were dead and falling on the table..Took it back to the flower store..they replaced it with a Smaller amount of flowers..Had the nerve to ask me if it had water in the vase..of course I checked it soon as I picked it off if my side door on the cement..that's how it was delivered.. Door bell rang and the guy was already getting in the van...

I travel 2 hrs to come here for my plants and am never disappointed. So much bigger than it looks from the outside/front. The workers are very helpful which is an added bonus.
