Negative experience: I am aware of the 'wild' style and Valentine’s markups, but as the photos show, this bouquet is over 70% foliage and cheap fillers. To charge £70 for what is essentially a bundle of leaves is not 'art'—it feels like an insult to a customer's trust and a thoughtful gesture. It is disrespectful to deliver such low value when a premium was paid for a special occasion. Deeply disappointed by this lack of professional honesty. ——————————————————————— Update in response to the owner: As the recipient of this Valentine’s gift, it was heartbreaking to see the person I love being overcharged for what is essentially a bundle of foliage. I appreciate your response. I am well aware of the 'wild' aesthetic and your shop’s longstanding reputation in Oxford. However, a 'wild style' should not be used to justify a disproportionate flower-to-foliage ratio in a £70 arrangement. While you list 'premium' blooms like Lisianthus, which is a standard florist staple, no amount of industry terminology changes the visual reality of what was delivered. As a customer paying a premium price for a gift, the value should be evident in the fullness and craftsmanship, not requiring a botany lesson to justify the cost. Reputation is built on consistency, and unfortunately, this experience fell significantly short of the expectations for an Oxford institution in the Covered Market. I stand by my review as a reflection of the value received.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. I ordered a Valentine's Day Jam Jar online for my boyfriend who has just moved to Oxford from Italy. Just to make sure everything was ok, I called the shop and the girl who answered me was so kind. The delivery was on time and the flowers were wonderful. The card was handwritten! Now I feel so sorry for writing my message in Italian, as I thought it would be printed! I can't imagine the effort in writing in a foreign language (and with no mistakes!). To sum up, the staff are truly lovely and I would definitely recommend it!

Fantastic experience: Peonies we bought a few weeks ago looked beautiful and lasted well. And we were very impressed when walked past recently and watched some roses having their petals checked over with a couple of rejects removed as part of a bouquet preparation. Negative experience: Extremely disappointed! I live in Singapore and ordered flowers for Mother's Day from The Garden. The website accepted the delivery address and then this morning( 2 days before Mothers Day) I receive an email informing me they don't in fact deliver to this address!! I suspect this is just an excuse. Won't be using them again

Negative experience: First time in Oxford but last time at the Garden of Oxford. Your experience at the store may depend on who you speak to and the colour of your skin. My experience was negative the lady that served me (blondy hair) was cold, and felt like she didn’t even want me in the shop. Cold and chilling experience, don’t recommend. I’m sure there’s ample of florist that treat everyone equally in Oxford. Despite her, I think the shop looks beautiful and sells reasonably priced flowers.

Fantastic experience: Major family event my sister's 80th Birthday in England. Living in America we we decided to send flowers. We wanted these to be absolutely first class, researching various florists found "the Garden of Oxford" having an excellent reputation. Cross fingers taking a chance, we placed our order. A lady named Joann was With our fare priced order delivered on time by a very helpful delivery person, my Sister was thrilled with the Vase of flowers. Negative experience: We recently visited the covered market and discovered this store. We were a large group including children (5 to 8 years old). The Assistant at the store was quite helpful and answered all our questions. We browsed for a while and set aside a couple of bouquets to buy. While we continued looking, our kids kept touching the bouquets on display. They were careful and didn't cause any damage but someone from the store (probably the owner) came to us and was extremely rude. He was upset that the kids kept touching the bouquets and I understand his position, however, the way he spoke was no way to treat a client. Same thing could have been said to us in a courteous manner and we would have respected their position but to tell us off in such a rude manner is not acceptable. If you have young children and planning to visit then make sure they are on a leash before you head to this store.

Fantastic experience: The Garden provided flowers for our wedding this June. The flowers themselves were beautiful, of course, but the main standout part of the experience is how receptive the team were to our wants for the colors and flower types in the arrangements. They were also priced very competitively.

Negative experience: Failed to deliver flowers to a family funeral. When I called to see what happened told that the order, that I had placed in person at the shop, had been forgotten about. Offered a refund - this has caused us great distress. Don’t bother using totally useless.

Positive experience: The selection of flowers is lovely. It's just that a flower shop is like a busy intersection of human emotion (people buy flowers to celebrate, mourn, propose etc.) and given this fact, the staff could be more tuned in. At times, I've found the attitude to be indifferent / a corporate "finish your selection quickly and get out". Hopefully, this can be worked on. A simple smile coupled with an appreciation that many clients are in the shop because something meaningful has happened would go a long way. Then it'll be 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: I bought a Christmas wreath yesterday and the female assistant was extremely helpful in giving care advice, questioning exactly where it was going to be placed, added a velvet ribbon to hang it from, and put it in a special bag for carrying it home. It looks absolutely beautiful on our front door. I will definitely go back next year for another one. Thoroughly recommend this florist. Update. I went back yesterday and bought another wreath. A year on, the quality of the wreath and the helpfulness of the staff is just as good as last year. The wreaths are absolutely beautiful and very different and they have a wonderful range of flowers and plants. The trip to Oxford has now become an annual tradition and I would again thoroughly recommend this florist.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic place to find all kinds of flowers! The staff is polite and the shop is always always filled with variety of flowers and they are always so so fresh! Even if I don’t want to buy flowers, I always visit this shop because it’s just got a very positive vibe. The recipient was unable to come to the front door, so every effort was made to ensure that the bouquet was collected and that the recipient was duly happy. Fantastic experience: The Garden provided the beautiful flowers for our whole wedding back in June 2022, from my bouquet, the buttonholes, hair flowers to the table arrangements, and they were all absolutely perfect! Joanne was so lovely to work with and we knew after the first meeting with her when she sent through some initial ideas that she had completely understood what we were after! Joanne was super helpful in suggesting things and advising what would be in season, what would hold up well in the heat, etc. Joanne was also really thoughtful, sending us additional thoughts she'd had after we'd spoken as to what further flowers would look nice which we might like! So many people commented on how beautifully colourful our flowers were and how perfectly they matched the day, and I've even managed to have some dried and pressed so that I can keep them forever (pictures below)! Thank you so much again to Joanne and The Garden, they really were perfect!

They have a large selection of handmade pottery, indoor house plants and you can often pick up a little something for the garden. Above all the best thing about The Garden has to be the staff. Friendly, approachable and experienced these people really know their stuff. You really feel you are in safe hands when visiting their shop & you will definitely leave with plenty of goodies. Fantastic experience: I've recently used The Garden for 2 funeral wreaths. They were so beautiful that many people remarked on them. I love that they listen to you and can provide a bespoke service.

Fantastic experience: Pleasant shopping experience with great service. They make bespoke arrangements from the flowers that you pick. A consultant will walk around the store and advise you which flowers go well together. They always have the prettiest flowers in stock! It is helpful to know what colours you would like or if it is a gift for someone, what the persons favourite flowers are so they can be included. The presentation of the arrangement is spectacular!

Negative experience: Looked at the reviews so expected something fairly splendid for £50. When I saw the flowers four days later, visiting my new grandson and his parents, I was very disappointed to see that there were just a few roses (well open so will start dropping petals soon}, a few purplish sprays , some droopy white thin spiked flowers and masses of greenery. The house is not hot but this bouquet will hardly last the week! I'm afraid that as I had an address very distant from Oxford I could be fobbed off with less than fresh flowers as it was supposed I was unlikely to see them. I wish I'd just gathered up some bunches at the supermarket, but had wanted these to be special. Feel disappointed and had wanted to support a local business
