Negative experience: I am not one to leave reviews, but I needed to share my experience with Brown’s yesterday. I bought $200 worth of plants and pots during the recent plant sale and, two weeks after buying them, I came into work one day to find loads of fruit flies on my new succulent, on a leaf that had turned black. I took it back to Brown’s yesterday (one week after I noticed the first black leaf, with a number of leaves having turned black after that). I asked if I could exchange the succulent for another one; I didn’t want a refund. The lady who was helping me said that it was past saving, as the plant had begun to rot, and said I had overwatered it. I explained that I had hardly given it any water at all, so the only way it could have been overwatered is if a colleague had watered it when I wasn’t in the office. The lady checked with another woman in the store, Tammy, who refused to exchange the succulent or otherwise remedy the situation in any way. She reiterated that it was my fault and that there was nothing they could do. I asked, “Really? Even though I spent $200 in that one transaction?” Tammy confirmed it didn’t matter - she couldn’t do anything. I have spent over $470 at that one location of Brown’s in the past six months alone, in addition to ordering a ~$150 planter gift for pick up at the Sidney store during the Christmas season, and have ordered a number of flower deliveries as gifts over the past few years. I also ordered my father’s funeral flowers (~$850 order) from Brown’s downtown in 2021. I have been a loyal customer keen to support a local business, but Brown’s lost a customer today. As someone who has trained and worked part-time in floral design, I can confirm that Brown’s has become very overpriced for the quality of the product. I am willing to pay a premium for exceptional quality, but I have found the price/quality ratio increasingly poor recently. There is certainly better in Victoria - and better customer service, too!

Fantastic experience: Thank you for your amazing customer service! I've used Browns in the past for flowers for my grandma, and now again for a special delivery for my bestie! After one item in the delivery was missed, I contacted Browns and they did EVERYTHING to make this right! It was a special moment for my friend. Thank you Browns! You have my 5* rating and I will continue to utilize your company for any of my future flower needs.

Fantastic experience: I received a beautiful bouquet of long stem red roses from my husband. They lasted a full 2 weeks! The helium balloon also lasted the full time. I have never had flowers last so long and they are from a local rose garden near Brentwood Bay. Shop Local!

Negative experience: I should have read the reviews before. Our workplace team sent a sympathy arrangement to our boss. I selected sympathy designers choice delux arrangement for $125. With delivery and fees $160. I was very disappointed by the underwhelming look and lack of flowers. Looks like a $75 arrangement with all of the filler greenery. I do see they have one peonie used but overall this does not look like a $125 arrangement.

Negative experience: Not usually one to post reviews, but thought it’s worth mentioning in this case. I ordered some flowers for my moms 71st birthday yesterday. I don’t live where she does, so I planned for the florist to deliver them. I was working with about a $65 budget. The girl on the phone when I initially called seemed pleasant overall. When the flowers arrived to my mom, she was a bit taken aback at how spindly some of the stems were and the overall underwhelming bouquet. She sent me a couple pictures and I was disappointed there wasn’t at least more greenery to fill it up a little better. I decided to call Brown’s florist and let them know I wasn’t overly happy with the bouquet. I tried to be as cordial as possible. But they were rather dismissive, told me how much each stem was, and that my budget was very small for a nice arrangement. When I inquired about even a partial refund, they didn’t try to work with me at all. I sent them pictures of the flowers but the manager stood behind the bouquet. I have a hard time even calling it a bouquet. Long story short, I unfortunately will not be ordering flowers for my mom again from this shop. It seems overpriced for what you get. Lesson learned for me to always ask for a photo before they get delivered so I can approve what I’m spending my hard earned money on.

Negative experience: sad to see the service here go downhill the staff is super rude

Fantastic experience: One of the local businesses I continue to support. The team at browns are caring and helpful as well as skilled and knowledgeable. Arrived minutes after closing (Feb 13th) and was initially turned down on an arrangement by senior staff. Another staff member made an exception and was gracious enough to assemble a small and very personal piece. It is beautiful - Thank you so much Lauren!

Fantastic experience: I got two beautiful tied bouquets for my birthday from Brown's the Florist and they were absolutely beautiful and the freshest flowers, you can tell they take pride in their arrangements at a time when everything is so expensive! I am never disappointed with their flowers! I would order flowers from them!

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Browns the Florist. I ordered flowers to be delivered to my mother-in-law for $115 total ($75 for the flower arrangement plus an additional charge for a balloon and delivery). When they arrived, I was shocked to see how small and underwhelming the arrangement was— no larger than a 4-inch pot with just a couple of flowers. The size description on the website says “Classic, Deluxe, Premium”. I could have purchased a much larger and more impressive arrangement (and balloon) elsewhere for less than half the cost. When I expressed my concerns to Browns the Florist, they showed zero sympathy or understanding and offered no resolution to address the issue. For a business that specializes in flowers and customer service, I expected much better. I even sent them a photo of the delivered arrangement to show how small it was compared to what I expected, but their response was dismissive. They may want to consider adding actual size measurements on the website so customers have an idea of the actual size before they are ripped off. I would not recommend Browns the Florist to anyone looking for impressive arrangements or good customer service. Save your money and shop elsewhere.

Negative experience: Overpriced and Disappointing I recently purchased a bouquet with three lilies for $50, and I have to say, it was a huge letdown. While lilies are beautiful, this arrangement was nowhere near worth the price tag. For $50, I was expecting a lush, full bouquet with more variety or at least a premium presentation. Instead, it felt sparse and underwhelming. The lilies themselves were average quality, nothing extraordinary, and the bouquet didn’t even include any thoughtful extras like filler flowers or unique wrapping to justify the cost. Honestly, I’ve seen similar bouquets in grocery stores for half the price—or less. This felt like a blatant ripoff. If you’re looking to get the most value for your money, I’d strongly recommend shopping elsewhere. For $50, you could definitely find a more stunning and well-thought-out arrangement. This one just isn’t worth it.

Negative experience: I ordered flowers for my mother and have received some from my boyfriend. Beautiful arrangements, but it’s evident they try and cut costs as much as possible, or charge as much as they possibly can. A $140 bouquet I received (as beautiful as it was) only had flowers on half the side, the rest with filler greens. I do not believe flowers should only be visible by one side and was disappointed just in that aspect. I spent around $80 on a bouquet for my mother and was disappointed just on the small size, it was minimal. The arrangements ARE beautiful, but you’re paying most likely for the expertise of the florists and not on the flowers themselves. I believe sometimes that’s how businesses work and understand, but there are many other florists in Victoria that create just as beautiful bouquets that are more worth your money, as the arrangements at Browns are not too much better to justify the increase of money spent

Fantastic experience: I received a beautiful delivery of flowers for my birthday, during a snow storm! Thank you for the huge, gorgeous bouquet and the exceptional delivery service. My mum ordered them this morning and they were right in front of my condo door when I got home.

Positive experience: I like Brown's for their quality and variety of flowers to assemble and create your own bouquet. I went in earlier today during my break from work and bought one of their ready made ones and added a few other flowers for a birthday bouquet. The sales associate was very helpful, however, the lady who was asked to re-arrange and assemble the bouquet was giving off an attitude and mentioned her workload as of being busy, but she did take upon the job regardless. The result was not up to the standard as I expected, with the arrangement notable of gaps in between the centre flowers and the greens, and the arrangement of certain flowers are not made as an attentive point as they should've been, but just added on to the side. In other words, it was done without much thought and care as I'd hope for. I would've asked for a rearrangement if I wasn't running out of time to be back at work, but disappointed for sure about the lack of care the lady had for my bouquet. I'd still go back, hopefully for a better experience next time.

Fantastic experience: The personel at this shop are extremely polite. Product is maintained extremely well. Prices are extremely reasonable especially for a floral shop of this type. There is a limited amount of walking space inside however if you are in a wheel chair the employees will go above and beyond to assist you and help you get what you're desiring. Whilst personally shopping here i saw some gorgeous arrangements ranging from a modern and minimalistic design to hometown country aesthetics guaranteeing that you'll find what you're looking for in your design.

Negative experience: This review came a little late. But before our anniversary, which was Dec 19, my boyfriend ordered a bouquet with 12 roses. The time he went to picked up, we got only 3 roses and 5 or 6 red and white carnations, with some greens. It didn’t look at a preordered bouquet for anniversary at all, looked like a pre-made Christmas flowers, I could picked up one of these things from Costco and they would look quite the same, but they charged him almost $80. I used to wok in a flower shop, I’ve never changed this much for a bouquet that has only 3 roses. Besides all that, I could even wrap it better than I got, weren’t even any flowerfood inside. We brought flowers here before but this we were pretty upset, I guess we won’t be coming back, there are other butter flower shops in town.

Fantastic experience: So many variety of plants. Best thing about it was, they were having a massive 50% off all plants sale! My friend and I spent around 30 minutes picking and choosing plants even tho we knew we would get nagged by our husband's and that we would have to have it car as we head back to Vancouver by ferry for the next 10 hours. It was worth it. Soooo beautiful.

Negative experience: The plants I bought from them came complete with a spider mite infestation, which quickly spread to and killed all the plants in my home. I had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of plants and then wait months before I could get new ones.

Fantastic experience: Recently completed an online order from out of Province to send to to my sister for her birthday. The website was clear and very easy to navigate. Pricing seemed fair compared to everywhere else. Delivery fee was very fair as they do live a bit out of the city. I received a phone call the day before the delivery with a very nice young woman apologizing because they didn't have the exact kitty birthday card in stock ( I laughed a little). Not a big deal at all and would have been fine with them substituting another card. But what a great experience as a paying client to have them call first to let me know. My sister sent me a picture of the bouquet and it was very fresh and healthy looking. The flowers were large and there was a bunch of blooms that haven't even opened yet!! All in all, it was a 5 star experience from start to finish!! They email you every step of the way as well, including once your delivery has been delivered.

Fantastic experience: I received a dozen of the most beautiful red roses, but they did not last. When I phoned the florist to ask what I may have done wrong, the lady who answered the phone immediately transferred me to someone else. She offered to deliver another dozen and provided me with helpful advice. One week later they are still as beautiful as when I received them. Thank you both so much!!

Negative experience: Worst florist in the city. Stay away from this place. I used to get flower deliveries frequently - at least one a month. The last two deliveries I got this place were absolutely terrible. One was for mother's day and one for my wedding anniversary last weekend. The mother's day flowers seemed like they just bunched together some scraps they had left over (heavy on green fillers) and it looked like they attempted to to a hand tied bouquet and ran out of floral wire and they just stuffed it into a glass vase and dropped it off around 4pm. I was disappointed but didn't want to complain. The order I received after that was for my anniversary and it looked absolutely terrible. It looked like a five year old arranged it with eyes closed. The filler greenery they had used was half eaten by worms. There was brown residue in the bottom of the vase. When I called Brown's to let them know about it, the manager told me that it's too bad that I'm not happy with it and that Brown's probably isn't the florist for me. This place is over priced for the quality of the products they sell and have absolutely awful customer service. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I got my wedding flowers from Brown’s and they were amazing. My husband and I decided to get married in March back in late January. When I started looking for a flower shop in February, it was not easy due to Valentine’s day. Getting the flowers was one of the things that kept me awake at night because I was so worried that I might not be able to flowers at all for the wedding. However, when I contacted Brown’s, they were very responsive and told me that they will contact me again after Valentine’s day. And they actually did! (There was another shop that told me they will contact me again after valentines day and they never did) They were awesome at recommending different options for me since I know nothing about flowers. When I saw my bouquet on my wedding day, it was exactly how I dreamed of. It was so beautiful. All the flowers including my bouquet were so fresh and nice. Thank you so much for creating everything I dreamed of with such a short notice.

Negative experience: Apparently this is what $300 buys you at Browns. Please note, that price does not include delivery, a vase, or anything else... just a very lacking boquete of flowers. Only a half dozen roses and very few other mentionable pieces (Kleenex box beside for context). Bought these for my wife for our anniversary and am extremely disappointed. Next year will surely be buying from another flower store or a jewellery store where there is some value for my purchase. A lack of competition in the area is the only reason this place survives. I will never purchase from this store again
