Fantastic experience: This is a tremendously delayed review, but we used SSB for our wedding in March and fully recommend! They’ve got a great mission and were fantastic to work with throughout the planning process. The flowers we initially wanted weren’t quite in season yet by the time we had our wedding, but the team at SSB still pulled through with different flowers in our color scheme and we got tons of compliments from our guests - everyone wanted to go home with a small vase of flowers! My highlight though was showing up to our venue on the day of to make sure our family & friends who were helping with the set up had everything they needed and when I arrived the incredible young people who delivered our flowers and set up the space were already finished and heading out! They chatted with me a bit and were so respectful and did a beautiful job. Cheers to the SSB team for helping to make our day so beautiful!

Southside Blooms website was easy to use, and when I needed to reschedule, their automated call system was super simple and easy, honestly better than any other call system I've ever used, which is saying something when there are so many massive companies that have bad ones. Negative experience: I ordered flowers for delivery for my mom's birthday about a week in advance. They did not get delivered on time, and I did not receive any notification that they did not arrive. Additionally, when I tried to call in, I got an automated voice service that was almost impossible to utilize. I could not reach a live person- instead they took down my information and said someone would be reaching out. I would not recommend using this company due to the lack of communication and accessibility in conjunction with the delays. UPDATE: Jade reached out to me via email, mostly upset with the google review. I asked if they could give me a discount given the lateness and instead they cancelled the order, which will make me have to pay extra to get flowers in the vicinity of my mom's birthday. I explicitly told them not to cancel, but they did anyways. I 100% stand by this. First time and last time using this company.

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful organization to get behind. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of the young men who participate in growing and arranging the flowers and they were delightful (and very amusing). This being the first year of their CSA, the overall variety of flowers was a bit underwhelming but A+ for effort. That being said, I am looking forward to giving it another go in 2021. I definitely recommend supporting Southside Blooms! Update in February 2023. The tulips are outstanding! I would get a monthly subscription if I could get their tulips for each delivery!!! Again, the March and April bouquets of tulips were a beautiful array of spring colors ... outstanding. I added photos of the June, October, and November 2024 and January 2025bouquets - lovely assortments.

I have subscribed to a monthly floral delivery for the last few months and I have greatly enjoyed it. The flowers are great quality, a beautiful bouquet surprise each delivery, that is very carefully packaged and delivered. I definitely recommend to all looking for wonderful way to gift flowers (or cards and candles), employ our local youth in such a unique way, and invest in sustainability. I had been looking all over at all sorts of options for flowers for our wedding and when a friend posted their wedding florals and tagged SSB, I knew I’d found the right place! Their mission driven values and breathtaking arrangements were an absolute YES from us. I was a little late in booking our florist. When I reached out, the SSB team got right back to me and they were able to squeeze us in, THANKFULLY! I emailed them photos of my wedding gown, veil, headpiece, and shoes as well as my fiance’s tux and bowtie. Based on their work and skill, I asked them to use the photos we had sent as inspiration. Southside Blooms gave us stunning bouquets and boutineers that flawlessly matched our wedding looks. We loved our flowers so much that are having them preserved in resin! Thank you for beautiful flowers and the wonderful work that you are doing for our Chicago community!

Fantastic experience: Southside Blooms is a terrific company. I use their monthly subscription service; the flowers are beautiful every season of the year. They offer wonderful service for a reasonable price. What I appreciate most is their business model: good for the planet, great for the people they employ.

Negative experience: I have been a subscriber for 3+ years. This year I found deliveries a problem. I got non-specific texts (not from Southside Blooms or mentioning flowers) giving only a delivery date and time. I did not know what would be delivered. While all of the bouquets may have been delivered, only two made it to me. The others??? It could be they were left on the street in front of my building. Plus, the quality of the bouquets was not as good this year. I have enjoyed being a supporter and hope these are the growing pains of a successful operation. But I will not subscribe again in 2025.

Fantastic experience: The arrangements are beautiful! Truly breathtaking. I signed up for a 6 month subscription for my aunt, and she loves them - shows them off to her friends whenever they arrive.

Negative experience: I recently had my wedding and chose Southside Blooms as our floral vendor. The choice was primarily based on their employment practices and all of the work that they do in the community. They also came recommended by our venue. That said, I feel compelled to share my experience to help other brides make an informed decision. To start, the upfront work with Brittany, our main point of contact, was great. We had multiple calls discussing the mood board and arrangements, and Brittany was super professional and helpful. My husband and I felt very confident going into the wedding, believing that flowers will not be something we’ll have to think about the day of. Unfortunately, the actual experience was far from what we expected. Bridal Bouquet: The initial bridal bouquet was nothing like what we had discussed or what was shown on the mood board. It was mostly made up of Queen Anne's lace and looked scraggly. As I looked closer, I realized that the flowers were already bruised and wilted, with peonies falling apart. The person delivering the bouquet blamed it on the heat. It was a lovely overcast day… I asked that we try to remedy the situation. The person delivering the flowers tried to update the bouquet with flowers from the arch… The updated bouquet looked even worse – the flowers were bruised, breaking off, the ribbon was unraveling, and the pins were falling out. My photographer and bridesmaids had to step in to try and salvage it by cutting off sticking branches, removing broken flowers, and even adding remnants from boutonnieres and table flowers. Despite their best efforts, the bouquet was a mess, and I didn’t even want to take it home after the event. As I walked down the aisle, I had to physically hold up some flowers to prevent them from falling out. Groom’s Boutonniere: The groom’s boutonniere also began falling apart, and while we had fortunately ordered multiple boutonnieres, even the replacements were poorly made, with flowers falling out almost immediately. Ceremony Arch Flowers and Fabric: The arch arrangement was another disappointment. The fabric draping was visibly wrinkled and creased, and the bottom flower arrangement was bizarrely arranged with just a few flowers sticking out haphazardly. Flower Petals for the Ceremony: We had discussed having flower petals for the ceremony, and I had envisioned fresh petals. Instead, what we received felt more like a potpourri of dried flowers in various colors (that didn’t match any of our colors). It felt like our guests were throwing dry tea at us. Brittany confirmed in the follow up that was not the intent and the execution was off. We also had small table vases, which looked lovely. As well as candles provided. Those looked fine as they were simple white flowers and small votive candles we specified. During the wedding, the venue staff called Southside Blooms to give real-time feedback about the issues. There was no proactive follow up until I reached out asking for the feedback call. After the wedding, I reached out to Brittany to discuss these issues. Brittany was open to feedback and apologized but shifted the blame to people who arranged the flowers since she works remotely and has no way of ensuring that what’s in the order form is what’s actually delivered. She mentioned she’ll be talking to the owner. Two months later, there was no follow-up, no attempt to make things right and I never heard from the owner. I really want this business to succeed and I’m sharing this feedback so there’s accountability, quality assurance and improvement in communication. While the initial planning process was smooth, the final execution was far from what was promised, leaving me deeply disappointed. Adding photos…

Fantastic experience: Southside Blooms is amazing. Their mood boards are so creative and fun, they work with you on your budget without sacrificing your vision, and of course the company mission is amazing. My event manager left the company halfway through our wedding planning year and the handoff to the replacement event manager was seamless. No details were lost. They also compost leftover flowers which is rare for a wedding florist so you feel a little less guilty about all the wedding waste! Amazing experience.

Brittney, our event coordinator, met with me multiple times and made sure she understood exactly what I was looking for. I went in a little unsure about what I wanted and she helped me find exactly the balance I was looking for of bright and summery colors and florals. Negative experience: Unfortunately my family and I did not have a good experience with Southside Blooms. The sympathy arrangement order was delayed 6 days due to driver unavailability. Today, the rescheduled order is late again and arrived dry and withered (see photos). This company must not be consistent or logistically sound enough for their current capacity of orders. If you’re looking for a reliable flower delivery, I suggest choosing another florist.

Negative experience: I have been a monthly subscriber for several months and the flowers that my wife received this month was very skimpy. These were by far the worst bouquet of flowers that I've ever received from any florist. I hope that next months bouquet looks a lot better than these.

Fantastic experience: Southside Blooms did an amazing job for our beach wedding! We had asked for some native flowers and ferns/ greenery and they did absolutely amazing. The bouquets and table settings were stunning and everyone loved the floral crowns and pocket squares. They were so easy to work with and so professional. Fantastic experience: We made an order from Southside Blooms for a delivery of a lovely bouquet for a dear friend’s 60th birthday as we were in the UK and our friend was in rural Illinois. When the birthday and the flowers arrived, our friend was bowled over with the gift, sent photos to us and, indeed, it was a most glorious bouquet befitting the occasion. We cannot recommend Southside Blooms highly enough!!!

Positive experience: I was told that they deliver only on Wednesdays. My delivery was made several days later on Saturday. Someone should have reached out to me, the customer, to make me aware of the delay. It was a Birthday bouquet. Her birthday wasn’t on Saturday!

Fantastic experience: I used Southside Bloom for our large annual meeting. We ordered 95 centerpieces and 2 larger arrangements to be displayed on a stage. The folks at Southside Bloom communicated delivery, timing and what was needed from me effectively and efficiently. The arrangements arrived as scheduled and were stunning. The Southside employees that were on site setting up the arrangements were professional and very friendly. They quickly set-up and, cleaned up behind themselves. This was not the first time I have used southside Blooms, but it was certainly the largest order. I will continue to use Southside Blooms for all my floral needs both professionally and personally.
