Negative experience: This is the second bouquet of flowers I have received from the store . Both were beautifully presented with nice variation of flowers . Unfortunately both lasted barely a week. I understand some flowers do not last more than a few days but I would expect a slightly longer lifespan . As an example I had some supermarket carnations for over a week before my flowers arrived and they were still going strong . Both were in the same room at the same temperature .

Hello Elaine, I am sorry to see that you were unhappy, but I am a bit confused as to why you have correctly stated that you understand that certainly flower varieties don't last as long as others (you correctly stated that carnations last a longer time) and then go on to say that your flowers lasted 'barely a week', which was in fact 11 days. Your order was delivered on 24th December, containing stock from a fresh flower delivery received in the shop on 23rd December. Your complaint was on 4th January, 11 days after delivery, by which time some of the flowers would certainly be maturing and past their best.

I really don't want to be confrontational as we value all of our customers, but to expect, for example, roses and spray roses (both in your bouquet) to last as long as carnations puts us in an impossible position. And sadly, leaving a two star review only serves to damage a small independent business as a consequence.

A good point of reference for the life expectatncy of (non chemically-treated) some examples of cut flowers kept indoors is as follows (dependent on conditions, ie flowers don't last as well if kept near to a source of warmth like central heating):-

Roses: 7 - 10 days
Spray Roses: 7 - 10 days
Tulips: 5 - 7 days
Lilies: 10 - 14 days
Chrysanthemums: 10 - 18 days
Carnations: 21 - 28 days

I hope this helps. Maybe if you do want your flowers to last as long as possible, depending on just carnations is advisable.
